Mission
Our mission is to train the next generation of child and adolescent psychiatrists in a hospitable and nurturing environment to promote the mental health and wellbeing of all children across a full continuum of care.
Embedded in a free-standing children's hospital and offering an array of different levels of care, our program prepares physicians to provide comprehensive evidence-based, high-quality, compassionate, and trauma-informed psychiatric care for youth and their families.

What Sets Us Apart?
Welcome to the Macon and Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion 91短视频 Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program.
Launched in 2023, our fellowship is part of a major expansion of pediatric mental health care in Hampton Roads, based at CHKD, Virginia鈥檚 only freestanding children鈥檚 psychiatric hospital. This community-driven initiative is focused on improving access to high-quality care across a region known for its warm climate and vibrant arts scene.
The program offers:
- Flexible, education-focused training with room for self-direction
- Opportunities to serve children across a full continuum of care at CHKD鈥檚 new Children鈥檚 Pavilion
- Clinical experiences that integrate biological, psychological, social, and structural perspectives
Since its inception, we鈥檝e built a collaborative learning environment with exceptional faculty from across the country. Their expertise supports pediatric and general psychiatry residents, as well as a growing number of medical students exploring careers in child and adolescent psychiatry.
To foster connection and community, the mental health service line, to include attendings and fellows, hosts quarterly socials at local restaurants. These gatherings feature free food and offer a relaxed space to mingle, unwind, and build relationships outside of clinical settings.
