Develop the skills and abilities necessary to provide competent care in musculoskeletal and sports medicine in our Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship.

Sports Medicine Fellowship stands out due to its comprehensive and diverse training opportunities.

  • Fellows benefit from rotations in two primary care sports medicine clinics and two orthopedic sports medicine clinics.
  • To enhance their understanding of different disciplines within sports medicine. fellows rotate between various orthopedic surgical subspecialties and physical therapy practices.
  • Fellows receive hands-on experience by covering athletic events throughout the year, including Division 1 football events.
  • Fellows will also cover a mass event to gain valuable experience in managing large-scale sports gatherings.

Work-life balance is important during your fellowship, and we are committed to supporting our fellows throughout their time at our medical school. Through Wellness Works program, our residents and fellows receive the same wellness resources as our faculty and staff.

In addition, our Resident Wellness program for residents and fellows gives you access to support groups, after-hours counseling services, running clubs, leadership coaching and more.

Where You'll Train

Hofheimer Hall is located on the Macon and Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion 91短视频 campus in Norfolk, VA next to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. It houses the Ghent Family Medicine, in addition to several other specialty practices. The fellow will have regularly occurring Sports Medicine clinics and didactics at Hofheimer Hall. We are happy to have recently renovated our clinic space here!

Maryview Medical Center

The Maryview Medical Arts Building is in Portsmouth, VA next to Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center, one of our main teaching hospitals. This is a short drive from our campus. This building houses various specialty clinics including Portsmouth Family Medicine. The fellow will have regularly occurring Sports Medicine clinics and didactics at this Portsmouth location.

Ellmer College of Health Sciences

Old Dominion 91短视频 hosts 18 athletic teams between men and women鈥檚 sports. Football competes in the NCAA Division I Sunbelt conference. Fellows will cover football and basketball in the fall and winter, respectively. There will be additional opportunities to cover various other athletic events as well. Fellows with work with the Sports Medicine team in the athletic training room at ODU.

Norfolk 91短视频 is home to 13 athletic teams between men and women鈥檚 sports. Fellows will assist in covering their Division I football team in the fall. NSU football competes in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Fellows will work in the Norfolk 91短视频 training room and have additional opportunities to cover other athletic events as needed.
