Purpose
The Faculty Assembly ("Assembly") shall be established at EVHSC to represent the Faculty in specified areas of its responsibilities and concerns in order to:
A. Initiate, develop, and participate in the formulation of academic, educational and research policies of the school and formation of new clinical and educational departments, divisions or centers and make recommendations to the Executive Vice President or Dean.
B. Consider such policies, programs, and other matters as the Executive Vice President, the administration, the Council of Chairs, EVHSC Medical Group, various student organizations, or individual members of the Faculty may propose.
C. Review faculty grievances (per grievance policy), propose changes in faculty related policies and to the Faculty Handbook.
D. Help create, maintain, and protect an environment conducive to the growth of scholarship, creativity, learning, teaching, research, clinical excellence, service and respect for human rights and dignity.
E. Accept and share responsibilities with the administration and students in order to improve the stature and effectiveness of the School.
Representation
A. A Faculty Member of the Assembly will represent each of the following Departments or Schools. Two Assembly Members will represent the Biomedical and Translational Sciences and the School of Health Professions each.

B. Any Department, Division or School not listed above shall be able to add a representation to the Assembly at any time.
C. Quorum for Assembly meetings is set at 51% of the Department, Division or School which have named their representatives.
D. Each Assembly Member must have an Alternate.
E. Each Department, Division or School represented will carry a vote; motions will pass if 51% of the votes of the Departments or Schools represented are in favor of the motion.
F. Assembly Members will be elected by their Department, Division or School peers.
G Department Chairpersons may only serve as Assembly Members or Alternates for Departments or Schools with a total faculty roster of three or less.
H. Individual Assembly Members will be responsible for choosing their Alternate. For Departments or Schools with Assembly Members on the Executive Committee, the Alternate should be elected rather than chosen by the Assembly Member.
Elections
A. Each Department, Division or School will hold elections every two years in the spring (typically in March) for the office of Assembly member for a two years term. Interim elections will be held when necessary.
B. For Assembly members who will be staying on the Executive Committee for the following term (President and Past-President), an election will be held for the office of Alternate.
C. The Assembly will elect the Executive Committee members up for elections for following term (President-Elect, Secretary and Member-at-Large) in June and a preliminary listing of Members and Alternates will be made available for the following two Academic Years. In July, a final listing of Members and Alternates will be made official.
4. The Executive Committee of the Assembly
A. An Executive Committee will oversee the Assembly functions in accordance with the above stated purpose. The Executive Committee will be elected at the Assembly meeting in June and begin their service on July 1. Interim elections will be held when necessary.
B. The Executive Committee is composed of:

d. Presenting the Assembly reports at the General Faculty Meetings
a. Presiding during the meetings of the Assembly in the absence of the President of the Assembly
b. Meeting monthly with the Executive Vice-President of EVHSC in the absence of the President of the Assembly
c. Assisting the President in all of his responsibilities
d. Presenting the Assembly Reports at the General Faculty Meetings in the absence of the President of the Assembly
e. Representing the Assembly on the Academic and Student Affairs Committee
a. Representing the Assembly on the Committee on Committees
b. Selecting and chairing the Nominating Committee
a. Assisting the President during the Assembly meetings
b. Composing and submitting the minutes of the Assembly meetings
c. Representing the Assembly on the Finance Committee
a. Assisting the Secretary
b. Chairing the Grievance Committee
c. Representing the Assembly on the Appointments and Promotions Committee.
C. The Executive Committee will communicate periodically, typically in the week prior to the full Assembly meetings. These communications may take place through email, conference calls, or in a face-to-face format. The Executive Committee will exceptionally hold additional meetings or communicate as needed to deal with emergency issues that are important to the Faculty and to the Assembly.
D. Quorum for the Executive Committee is set at 60% (3 of 5 members).
E. All decisions taken by the Executive Committee will be submitted to the Assembly before being formally adopted.
5. Meetings
Assembly Meetings will be held on the third Monday of every month (excluding July and August), at the time and location set by the Assembly. If the third Monday is a holiday, the meeting will be held the following Monday.
6. Assembly representation at Old Dominion 91短视频 Senate
Assembly will elect Senators to represent EVHSC Departments, Divisions and Schools at the ODU Faculty Senate based on below membership and ODU district election guidelines. Each Senator will have an alternate. Alternates may be from a different Department, Division or School. The elected Senators and alternates serve for 2 years period at the ODU Faculty Senate and ODU Committees.
1. Five Senators from the School of Medicine, including basic Sciences and Clinical Departments.
a. Three Senators will be elected from the Clinical departments
b. One Senator will be elected from the Biomedical and Translational Sciences Educational track
c. One Senator will be elected from the Biomedical and Translational Sciences Research track
2. Two members from the School of Health Professions.
a. One Senator will be elected from Clinical programs.
b. One Senator will be elected from Non-Clinical programs.
3. Two ad-hoc members regardless of departmental memberships who volunteer for the role
a. Ad-hoc members are eligible to attend and vote at Assembly meetings.
b. All salaried, non-salaried and emeriti faculty members are eligible as ad-hoc members.
c. Only one member of non-salaried or emeriti faculty members may serve as an ad-hoc member at a time.
B. Assembly members who represents Assembly at ODU Faculty Senate will report to Assembly Executive Committee, full Assembly monthly meetings or as needed through other means of communication such as email, etc.
7. Assembly Representative Responsibilities
A. Assembly representatives to the Administration and Services Committee, the Academic Affairs Committee, the Committee on Committees, and the Finance Committee are stated at

- Fringe Benefits Committee
- Space Committee
- Ad Hoc Committees (when appropriate)
The representative may already be a member of the above Committee.

a. Representing the Faculty Assembly on the Committee on Committees
b. Selecting and chairing the Nominating Committee
4. The Secretary who is in charge of:
