Where you'll train

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital

, the primary teaching hospital for Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion 91短视频, is home to the area's only Level I trauma center and burn trauma unit, the region's premier heart program, and a by U.S. News & World Report. Residents round on inpatient consult and surgery patients, receiving daily assignments that cover a spectrum of procedures and match residents' experience with the complexity of cases. Residents also see patients in our weekly half-day outpatient clinic at Sentara Norfolk General.

Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters

is the only freestanding children's hospital in Virginia. With 206 beds, it is the regional pediatric referral center for coastal Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. The hospital, a pediatric Level I trauma center, is home to the area's largest and most advanced neonatal and pediatric intensive care units, as well as the state's only acute inpatient rehabilitation unit. Residents complete inpatient rotations at the hospital and manage pediatric outpatient care in a weekly clinic.

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth

is the oldest continuously running hospital in the Navy. This fully accredited, tertiary care hospital is a 360-bed facility with an average daily inpatient load of 238 patients. Through its extensive Graduate Medical Education programs, the Naval Medical Center conducts internships and residency training in medicine, dentistry, and psychology. Naval Medical Center Portsmouth is one of three major teaching hospitals in the Navy with residency programs in 13 specialty areas. Residents rotate through the facility's inpatient and outpatient clinics in their first two years.

Sentara Ambulatory Care Clinic

Our residents participate in Sentara's Ambulatory Care Clinic, which provides uncompensated medical care to uninsured or underinsured Norfolk residents. The clinic is a follow-up option for patients recently discharged from Sentara hospitals and emergency facilities. The Ambulatory Care Clinic provides various services including lab services, X-rays, EKGs, specialty clinics, and medication assistance programs, which are available to help patients get prescription medications free or at a reduced cost. Our residents deliver outpatient services weekly at this facility.

Urology of Virginia

is an outpatient practice that provides treatment for kidney, urinary tract, prostate, pelvic, or other urological needs. Our residents rotate through Urology of Virginia's ambulatory care clinic and spend the bulk of the working day in one of the outpatient urology offices. This rotation provides a much-needed educational experience in the outpatient setting.

Sentara Leigh Hospital

is a 250-bed acute care facility specializing in orthopedic, cardiac, advanced imaging, obstetrical, gynecological and breast care services. Sentara Leigh Hospital offers a contemporary care environment for general medical/surgical and ambulatory services. The medical center includes the 48-bed Orthopedic Hospital at Sentara Leigh, one of Sentara's multiple specialized orthopedic care facilities. Trainees complete rotations at Sentara Leigh during their last four years of residency.

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital

is a 276-bed acute care facility offering specialized, tertiary services and the region's only Level III trauma center. It houses the Sentara Heart Center and Sleep Center and provides specialty care in orthopedics, neurosurgery, and thoracic and colorectal surgery. Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is one of the region's accredited stroke centers. Our residents rotate through this facility for a month during each of their four training years.

brings a broad range of care to the people of southeast Virginia and northeast North Carolina. A local, independent, community-focused organization, Chesapeake Regional offers area residents high-quality, technologically advanced healthcare delivered by people who openly display their caring, concern and compassion.
