Knowledge & Creativity Expo

The expo featuring all colleges and bringing together students, faculty, and community partners in a dynamic showcase of research and creative expression.

This event will highlight the diverse research and creative works of undergraduate, graduate, and medical student scholars.

Abstracts must be submitted by February 27th, 2026.

Presentation Instructions

  1. Posters should be printed at a size no larger than 35.5 inches wide and 47.5 inches high (tall). This requirement is important and is due to the size and orientation of posterboards available for the Expo. Portrait (vertical) orientation is preferred. Poster display space will be limited; your compliance with this guideline is appreciated.
  2. Students are responsible for arranging poster printing and payment. Colley Copies (colleyavenuecopies@gmail.com) is the preferred vendor and can bill ODU departments or ODURF accounts directly. Mention the 2026 Expo when arranging for printing; Colley Copies is offering a discounted printing rate of $4/ft2 for this event. Posters should be submitted electronically to Colley Copies no later than Monday, April 13 to ensure timely printing; contact Colley Copies at the address above if your poster will be submitted later than this date. Poster files in .pdf format are preferred.
  3. Posters will be displayed in the Chartway Arena. Poster setup will take place from 8–10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22. Further instructions on poster placement will be provided at the registration desk. Push pins will be provided.
  4. If you will have a laptop computer as part of your presentation, you will need to bring a stand and ensure that you have sufficient battery power or a portable charger, as outlets will not be available at the poster boards.
  5. There will be two poster sessions: Session I from 10:30 a.m.–12 p.m. and Session II from 1 p.m.–2:30 p.m. Undergraduate students will be expected to be at their posters to present their work to Expo attendees during Session I. Graduate and medical students will present during Session II. Posters should be left on display until 3 p.m. the day of the Expo. All posters must be collected by presenters by no later than 4 p.m.

  1. Oral presentation sessions will take place between 12–4 p.m. on Wednesday April 22nd in the Big Blue Room of the Chartway Arena. Concurrent sessions are currently being organized and further information will be provided to presenters.
  2. Presentations should be in .pptx format (inquire in advance with KnowledgeCreativityExpo@odu.edu for other formats).
  3. Presentations should be 12 minutes or less in length, leaving ~3 minutes per presenter for questions (15 min. total). Sessions are of fixed (1 hr.) length and compliance with time limits is expected of all presenters.

  1. Artwork display and special presentations will take place in the center section of the Big Blue Room from 12 p.m–4 p.m.
  2. If you are part of a faculty-organized presentation group (e.g. Dance, Art History), please contact your faculty mentor for guidance.
  3. Artwork presenters will have access to a standard 8 ft. table on which to place their work. Please contact knowledgecreativityexpo@odu.edu with any additional requests.
