Consider enrolling in one of these exciting courses in Park and Recreation Management this Spring 2026!
This course is designed to increase knowledge, skills, and techniques related to outdoor recreation. Students will participate in outdoor recreation experiences - backpacking, hiking, biking, kayaking, climbing, etc. - during class, through the Outdoor Adventure Program, and on their own. In addition, students will learn principles of wilderness first aid and safety practices in outdoor environments.
This course is designed to help students develop recreation facilitation, planning, and leadership skills. The course focuses on event planning and facilitation through recreation leadership techniques. Over the course of the semester, students will plan and facilitate a community recreation event with a local community partner!
This course will cover the organization and administration of camp programs, with a special focus on the theory and practice of environmental and outdoor education. We will learn how to create successful camp, outdoor, and adventure programs. We will also cover history, trends, staffing, client needs, marketing, accreditation and safety/legal issues.
This course addresses outdoor recreation and natural management using a recreation ecology framework. We will explore physical and social impacts resulting from outdoor recreation in parks and protected areas, as well as visitor use management strategies to address those impacts. We will collaborate with community partners to make a real impact on the beautiful natural resources we have in our community!
