Celebrating a Milestone in Alzheimer's & Dementia Research for the Memory Consultation Clinic Registry Project

We are thrilled to announce a remarkable achievement for our Memory Consultation Clinic Registry Project: 500 participants strong! As the largest in-person non-federally funded memory registry in Virginia, initiated by Principal Investigator Dr. Hamid Okhravi in 2020, and fueled by the generous support of the late Lynne Farrell and Bradley Waitzer, this project has exceeded expectations in potentially advancing Alzheimer’s and Dementia research.

Our longitudinal study is pivotal in constructing a comprehensive dataset from individuals with cognitive disorders and cognitively unimpaired adults. By meticulously gathering over 2,000 data points within the initial visit, we are enhancing research opportunities and creating participation avenues for at-risk individuals. This initiative is open to everyone aged 18 and up, offering you the chance to be proactive about your cognitive health, contribute to impactful dementia research, understand your genetic test results, and keep informed of emerging studies and trials.

We want to extend special recognition to our Registry team leads—Jayne Staley, BS, Jordan Johnson, MPH, and Adiba Talibi, BS—whose dedication has been invaluable. This project owes much to our committed providers from the Memory Clinic at the Glennan Center: Hamid R. Okhravi, MD, Bahar Niknejad, MD, Matthew E. Bourcier, PA-C, and Latoya R. Augustine, MSN, FNP-C. Additionally, heartfelt thanks go to Sylvia Ameen and her team, Betty Murden, Dr. Ethlyn Gibson, and the Glennan Center Research Team, whose support has been crucial.

Our Glennan Center Research team has made significant strides in enrolling participants, reinforcing our efforts in Alzheimer’s and dementia research.
