Hello Supervisors,

Welcome to another academic year! As we begin this new academic year, the Center for Career and Leadership Development and the Student and Campus Life Skills Committee are launching a new initiative across campus for all student supervisors and employees called Monarchs GROW. All LEAP and FWS supervisors are expected to participate and have Monarchs GROW conversations with their student employees.
Employment during college helps contribute to student success when meaningful connections between learning in the classroom and learning on the job are made evident. Monarchs GROW uses brief, structured conversations between student employees and their supervisors to help students connect the skills and knowledge they are gaining in the classroom with what they are doing, and vice versa. Monarchs GROW is focused on making student employment a 鈥渉igh-impact activity鈥 鈥 one that requires students to reflect on their learning and connect their learning within and beyond the classroom. Monarchs GROW helps to provide additional structure to something that many supervisors already do and helpful support for supervisor鈥檚 news to work-academic conversations.
