ANNOUNCING a NEW SEED FUNDING OPPORTUNITY: Stimulating Transdisciplinary Research (STaR) Collaborations Program
2025/2026 Call for Proposals
The Stimulating Transdisciplinary Research (STaR) Collaborations Program will empower teams of researchers at Old Dominion 91短视频 to achieve national prominence by providing worthy teams with seed funding needed to advance their collaborative research development and scholarship activities. In addition to seed funding, the Division of Research and Economic Development will provide STaR teams with resources that include project strategy, teaming, and proposal development services, all to increase the STaR team鈥檚 ability to be highly competitive in large proposal competitions. For this STaR Collaborations Program, 鈥渓arge proposals鈥 are competitive projects with an anticipated total external funding value of at least $3,000,000 over the course of the award; higher levels of anticipated funding will be positively considered. Recognizing that large project teams will likely require additional internal and external partners, the objective of the STaR Collaborations Program is to accelerate the coalescence of ODU researchers to develop these teams, including both senior and early-career researchers.
The STaR Collaboration Program is open to any targeted funding call that aligns with ODU鈥檚 Strategic Research Areas and has an anticipated submission date in the spring or summer 2026. The maximum funding from the DivRED per award is $50,000 per six months (with a 50% match requirement). Awards are renewable with appropriate progress. It is anticipated that a significant fraction of this funding will support proof-of-concept activities, team-building, and graduate student or post-doctoral researchers.
