Some movies are inspired by greatness. Others look at greatness, put on a fake mustache, and insist they're a completely different person. 👽ðŸ”
Mac and Me boldly asked the question: "What if E.T.... but with more McDonald's and enough product placement to feed an entire galaxy?" It's less a tribute to Spielberg's beloved alien and more the cinematic equivalent of copying your friend's homework and changing a few answers.
When Steven Spielberg was once asked if he was ever tempted to take legal action against the filmmakers for copying the story of his beloved film E.T.- The Extraterrestrial (1982) he jokingly said he didn't want to get blamed for making anybody else watch it in order to make comparisons.
Still, somehow, against all odds, it has become a wonderfully weird cult classic. Sometimes the best movies aren't the good ones—they're the ones that leave you asking, "Did that really happen?"
