Engineering runs deep in Abby Buck鈥檚 family. She is set to become a third-generation engineer, following in the footsteps of her father and both grandfathers:

While honoring her family鈥檚 legacy, Buck chose to forge her own path by pursuing civil engineering at Old Dominion 91短视频鈥攁 place that, in her words, 鈥渇elt like a true community.鈥

Buck鈥檚 decision to attend ODU was driven by the university鈥檚 welcoming atmosphere and the opportunities it offered:

  • Strong academic support and mentorship
  • A community that challenged and encouraged growth
  • Access to real-world experience and professional development

鈥淎ttending ODU was one of the best decisions of my life,鈥 Buck said. 鈥淚t opened doors that allowed me to thrive both academically and professionally.鈥

During her time at ODU, she:

  • Secured an internship with HRSD, gaining hands-on experience in water resource management
  • Became actively involved in:
    • ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers)
    • Chi Epsilon (Civil Engineering Honor Society)
  • Earned the CEEVC William Boone Scholarship (Fall 2024)

After graduation, Abby will begin working as a water resource engineer for , a renowned global company.
